Quick and Easy Recipes For the Busy Pinay

We’ve already told you about how food preparation in the Philippines can be such a hassle, especially if you’re chasing after your dream career and paying off your bills all at once. Ingredients:

  • 1/4 kilo of hot dogs, sliced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 can tomato sauce (200 grams)
  • 1/2 cup corn kernels
  • 100 grams green beans, sliced
  • oil
  • Salt, pepper & sugar, to taste
  • 1/4 cup of water

What to do:

  1. In a pan, sauté the chopped onion and hotdogs in small amounts of vegetable oil.
  2. Then, mix in the tomato sauce. Sprinkle salt, pepper and sugar to taste. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  3. Add 1/4 cup water. Add in the corn and green beans. Simmer until vegetables are tender.
  4. Enjoy with rice or cooked pasta!

Ingredients:

  • 600 grams pork chops (6 slices)
  • 1 tablespoon softened butter
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 can spaghetti sauce (250 grams)
  • 1/3 cup cream of corn
  • 3/4 cup pea pods
  • oil
  • 1/4 cup of water

For Marinade:

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/3 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/3 teaspoon cayenne powder, or to taste
  • 2 teaspoon soy sauce

What to do:

  1. Mix all the ingredients for marinade and rub on all sides of pork chops. Let it stand for 30 minutes.
  2. Heat butter in a pan. Then, fry the pork chops over medium to low heat. Cook until light brown. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. In another pan, sauté the chopped onion in small amount of vegetable oil. Add spaghetti sauce, corn and 1/4 cup water. Simmer for 3 minutes.
  4. Stir in pork chops. Cover pan and simmer for 10 minutes. Stir in pea pods. Simmer for 1 minute. Serve hot with bread or steamed rice.
